7 Symptoms of Love

Hello my name is Rosa M. Luna from St. Paul’s Free University. I am here to talk to you about “LOVE” since valentine’s Day is just around the corner, Is there someone you feel love for? A man friend, a girlfriend, your kids, a husband…Valentines day is a holiday for us to remember those we love. It used to be just for lovers, or the person you are with. But now even your little children bring you a valentine’s card made with love and they’re own little hands.  Aw…Now they still do the same thing, with the phone things, HAPPY VALENTINES MOM, LOVE YOU! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY DAD! AW… I feel so fortunate that they remembered me, they lead such busy lives, working, making dinner after work, basketball, the kids, grocery shopping, I understand.

I remember working in an office where some of us were single parents or just plain single too busy to have someone in our lives. Feeling sorry for ourselves. So I decided to make us some valentines envelops like we did in school remember? The large envelops I decorated with hearts and placed everyone’s name on it and hung them on people office doors or dividers and requested everyone who wanted to  participate  to bring chocolate candy, cookies or something and a valentines card saying one nice thing of why you appreciated that person and placed them in their envelope, It turned out to be Fun! It caught on and we did this every year.

So, what does this story have to do with the seven symptoms of being in love? This was just a good valentine’s story to share. But the seven symptoms of being in love yourself. Have you ever been in Love? This is a different heavy-duty kind of love.  Been in love and being in “lust “are two different feelings” being in love out last the newness of a fresh relationship. there is so much emotional feelings here. The attraction, the chemistry is so strong. Who wants to talk? Sex is Amazing!!! Your other desire and the excitement is to see each other again. Symptom #1 one: The excitement of seeing each other again, sometimes you might feel butterflies in your stomach, I remember that feeling? This reminds of something my mother told me about being in love and feeling the butterflies. I asked my Mother about those feelings and she said,  if you are asking than you do not know the difference between love and a bowl movement…  BUT that is exactly how you feel when you are excited to see this person again.  or is it a warning? You’ve heard the saying,    ” listen to your gut feeling”.

Symptom # 2- Can’t stop smiling = when you think about that person it makes you smile. Symptom #3-that person makes you feel happy, do you remember happy. You also are nice to other people, your co-workers, your computer crashed and it does not bother you. “the world is going to end”, you don’t care. They’ve been saying that for decades and were still here!

Symptom #4 -the newness of the relationship -You are in love There is still a newness feeling left over and it feels good, you are now in a relationship with his person. You feel this person is the one. You feel emotionally, mentally and physically secure with this person. Never once did you feel judged by that person.

Symptom # 5-  You’re at ease with this person – You feel loved by this person and its easy to share your stories with each other, this person makes you feel at ease been yourself, you feel secure and safe when you are with person. When you are not with this person you have a sense of peace and fulfillment all over you. You can’t stop thinking of that person, so you text that person and that person texts you back letting you know both are thinking of each other.

Symptom # 6-  Different but positive feelings – You have different and positive feelings about the future with that person. Maybe I now have someone to accompany me to my relatives wedding. I will no longer feel out of place or feel alone. Maybe we can take dancing lessons together…I feel so much love for this person, maybe we can live with each other you are now in a relationship and in love- and when you feel well loved

Symptom #7- Healthy relationship- you feel good Being truly in love it energizes you, you are finally in a healthy relationship and when this person makes you feel supported. Being in love and knowing that the other person is in love with you too. You start creating trust. That alone is a miracle right there. Being well loved , gives you  a sense of peace, it creates your self-esteem and self-confidence to grow for optimism for the future, it feels more real and you both look forward towards a new excitement for a better future for tomorrow  together.
