While I was preparing for my family yearly Thanksgiving event, I was cleaning my 5 bedroom home washing all the bed sheets, I also changed some mattresses to rotate them from some of the rooms to another, prepared some of the goodies in the kitchen, made the h’ors d’oeuveres , preparing food ahead of time. I must of really pushed my body. I did not sleep well that night either , I was worried about having things ready…
Next day was thanksgiving, family showing up and some were staying for the weekend , which meant more food planning. I woke up early to put Turkey in the oven, Family was showing up 21 people to care for. Dishes to wash. I did get some help (thank GOD), to clean kitchen. Family left on Sunday, I hated to see them go. We had fun, played games, I did some Rieki (energy healing) on a Nephew.
I was getting up early every morning getting things ready for breakfast. going to the store etc, etc….making sure there were plenty of snacks and drinks. I evidently wore myself down. After everyone left I went to spend the night at my boyfriends house and the next morning my left leg felt weak. I was having a hard time standing on it, or putting pressure on it, Several times I almost fail, but would catch myself and hang on to something and it would go away.
I had a client coming to see me that Monday afternoon and drove home. On my way home I could feel my body leaning to my left a little more than usual, but that would go away too, it felt so strange to me but I continued to ignore it because there was no other symptoms with it. I felt like it was because I had exhausted my self and needed some much desired and needed sleep and rest.I told myself I was going to bed as soon as my client left. I was feeling pretty tired.
I was with my client like 40 minutes into our session, when all of a sudden my whole body started leaning to the left and I fell to the floor. I could not find the strength to pick myself up from the floor. Thank God my Sister was home from work and I asked my Client to please “go get my Sister from upstairs.” My Sister rushed down stairs and tried to pick me up, to sit me down on the couch, but I was too heavy, both my client and my Sister tried again, but I just could not help. my leg was too weak to sustain my weight. My Sister called my Daughter. Bye the time my Daughter got here, my Daughter lives almost an hour away. I was walking again and feeling better.
Since I was feeling better and Non of us had had Dinner, we decided to go and have some dinner.while there we were a most done with dinner when I started leaning to the left again. This time it was my whole left side of my body. So my Daughter decided to take me to the hospital. When we got there we could not find a wheel chair for me to ride in so I walked in, feeling better, yet heavy. When they called my name to talk to me I could no longer stand and the nurses rushed me in stating “she must be having a stroke!” so that stayed…”I MUST BE HAVING A STROKE!”,,
The Doctor that saw me stated I needed to stay overnight. she said I was very lucky, because there was one bed left. LUCKY ME! the next day they did all sorts of test on me EKG, ECHO, (ultra sound on my heart, It is strong very good condition) MRI,. 3 days in the hospital later, Doctors really could not find what had cause my left leg to become so weak and not with stand my weight. close to 20,000 thousand dollars later, they tried to convinces me and my Daughter that I had a STROKE! My Daughter was convinced I did. Yet I did not have the droopy eyes and crooked mouth. OH and my worst experience was the speech Therapist, She came into my room to give me a test on my speech impediment . She had me draw clock, a bed, I am not a good drawer, but looking at my drawings you could see what I had drawn was what she aske me to draw. She checked off words I did not pronounced correctly. I stated that English was not my first language and like her I mainly spoke my native language. I said you are Vietnamese right?Like you I do not prounce English words completely correctly, She said “what? No I believe it is you who has had a stroke and you are using this as an excuse” I must of hit a sensitive nerve on her. OK? Later that afternoon, the Doctor said The speech therapist had given me a very low score. But you do not sound as bad as she has scored you? when I was finally released. I had my brother pull my neck and adjust my back that same evening and I felt so much better. I kept telling people that I must of pulled my back muscle or something. two weeks later the hospital had made an appointment with a speech therapist, and another Doctor. the speech therapist, after several test. Said “I do not have to see you again, it appears to me you did not have a stroke”, You do not need to come back to see me, I thanked her for her honesty. When I went to see the Doctor, He too said “You did not have a Stroke!”. So I went to see a chiropractor and he took care of my back and healed me right away and I have not had any problems since. He did say not to overly exhausted myself or tire my body and not to push it again, at this age, I have to take really good care of myself. END OF PROBLEM…
